According to Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) data, housing sales to foreigners increased by 9.9% in September, reaching 2,167 units.

Total sales declined in the January-September period

In the first nine months of the year, 1,092,919 properties were sold across Turkey. This figure represents a 7.2% decline compared to the same period last year.

Distribution of sales by type is as follows:

  • New housing sales: Decreased by 0.6% to 359,913 units.
  • Second-hand sales: Declined by 10% to 733,006 units.

Mortgage sales show notable growth

Despite the overall decline in total sales, mortgage housing sales recorded a 24.7% increase in the first nine months, reaching 212,210 units.

Russia leads among foreign buyers

In September's sales to foreigners, Russian citizens held the largest share. Russian buyers purchased 388 properties. They were followed by Iraqi citizens with 166 properties and German citizens with 162 properties.

The data shows that while the general market is slowing on an annual basis, foreign demand has picked up again in September and mortgage sales are taking the lead.
